What is Feng Shui?

Feng Shui is an ancient practice that works with the energy flow within your home or office. Energy is constantly moving all around us, and we can direct that energy flow so that it is working to our advantage. The principles of Feng Shui are used to do just that.

Is there more than one Feng Shui?

There are multiple schools of Feng Shui, and all are based on the teachings of the original Feng Shui Masters. I am certified in two different schools of Feng Shui. One is BTB, which is a simplified version that is quite popular in the US and in the West.  I have practiced BTB Feng Shui for years. However, a few years ago, I was introduced to Flying Star Feng Shui which is a more precise and advanced method. I decided the results were more satisfactory, so I studied for and received my certification in Flying Star.

Can I choose which type of Feng Shui you use for my consultation?

Although all forms of Feng Shui are valuable, helpful and useful, my recommendation is that we apply the Flying Star method of Feng Shui in your case, as it offers a more precise understanding of your situation as well as more precision in your remedies.

What’s the difference between the two?

BTB Feng Shui and Flying Star Feng Shui both use the Bagua to map out the energy flow of your home or office. BTB orients the placing of the Bagua in alignment with the front door and does not use compass directions.  Flying Star Feng Shui places the Bagua on the blueprint of a space based on compass directions. These compass directions hold a lot of information on your space and helps discern where the areas are that need attention.

What’s a Bagua?

The Bagua is an “energy map” made up of 9 different blocks or “guas”. Each gua represents a life area: Career, Knowledge, Family, Wealth, Fame and Recognition, Partnership, Children/Creativity, Helpful People and Health. In BTB Feng Shui, each gua is located in the same place for each home or office and in Flying Star, each gua is given a number from 1 to 9 and is located based on the direction the home or office is facing.

What can I expect in a Feng Shui consultation?

Whether your consultation is virtual or in person, it is very interactive. I will provide you with a Client Package with helpful information to get your started. You will provide information to me, explain your situation, tell me what the pressing   matter is and give me a tour of your surroundings.  You provide a hand drawn blueprint of your space, and I will see how the Bagua sits on that map and how the areas coincide with your life areas of concern. When I have the information I need, I can recommend ways to take action to get that energy moving in your space to your advantage.

How hard is it to direct the energy?

There are many factors that go into what is recommended for you to direct your home’s energy flow to your advantage and each consultation is unique. As a Certified Feng Shui Practitioner, I have been trained to identify problem areas, auspicious and neutral areas and ways in which to balance and harmonize your space. Once I have gathered all the necessary information, I will be able to make recommendations that will help establish and maintain harmonious energy in your surroundings.

Do the remedies need adjusting over time?

Yes. With Flying Star, each year on the Chinese New Year, the energy stars shift to new locations on the Bagua. This changes the location of inauspicious, neutral and auspicious areas which require minor adjustments in your space. This is something we can work on together each year through a virtual appointment weeks before the New Year so you can make your preparations. This is what makes Flying Star Feng Shui so precise because it acknowledges the yearly (and monthly) movement of energy and allows you to stay apprised of how to keep your home and office a balanced, harmonious space.

How do you charge?

My consultations are thorough and are based on your unique needs. The fee is the same whether it is a Flying Star or BTB Feng Shui consultation. I devote hours into each client’s situation, study your star chart, assess your home or office, offer recommendations and work with you so you understand how to implement your remedies or enhancements. I am available to you after your consultation.  You’ll be provided with your personal Feng Shui Report, your Min Gua number, your best directions and a yearly forecast for the year we are in or the upcoming one. (Please note: Yearly Updates are an additional fee.)  Virtual appointments are a lesser fee and can be for anyone located  anywhere in the US.  In-person appointments require more time due to travel and  are conducted in the Rochester, NY area including Webster, Penfield, Brighton, Pittsford, Mendon, Victor, Fairport and Perinton.  You are not required to have an in-person appointment if you live in the Rochester area.

How do I secure my appointment?

Easy! Go to the Book Now tab on the website and fill out the form. I require a non-refundable deposit which is applied to the total fee and that secures your appointment. Once your form is submitted, I will contact you withing 48 hours to set and confirm your appointment.

What else do I need to know?

While the benefits of Feng Shui are many, remember that Feng Shui helps you direct energy in your home or office so that the effect is a balanced, peaceful and harmonious place to live or work. Feng Shui is not magic, it does not help you win the lottery or help you make a fortune in the stock market. Feng Shui does not cure disease, nor does it, or I, offer any medical advise.  My recommendations are entirely to help you direct the energy in your space so that energy is supportive to you in your life’s endeavors. Feeling that energetic support can have a such a positive effect on your career, your relationships, your creativity, and many other areas of your life. I look forward to working together with you on your Feng Shui journey!
